Meet the team behind Cardboard for Kitty
Co-Founder
Grace Totten is the co-founder of Cardboard for Kitty, an initiative that blends creativity, compassion, and sustainability to support the well-being of cats through recycled design. What began as a love for animals has grown over time as Grace has come to realize that, with each year she gets older, the issues she cares about extend far beyond cats to include environmental responsibility, community action, and global impact.
She is also the founder of 17 by Seventeen, a youth-led initiative focused on taking local action toward achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through her work, Grace hopes to show that small, creative ideas can help address much bigger challenges.
Grace now leads Cardboard for Kitty, continuing to grow this community-driven initiative that her sister Hannah started.
Co-Founder
Hannah Totten is the co-founder of Cardboard for Kitty and the person who came up with the original idea. At 18 years old, Hannah is now a university student at UNB Saint John. She organized the very first Cardboard for Kitty events in 2018 and 2019, setting the foundation for what the fundraiser has become today.
Hannah has since left the fundraiser in Grace's hands, but her original vision and early work organizing those first events continue to inspire the community-driven initiative.
Cardboard for Kitty brings together creativity, sustainability, and community giving in a unique annual event. We believe that small, creative actions can create meaningful change, supporting both animal welfare and community well-being while promoting environmental responsibility.
Through our partnership with RedHead Strays and First Steps Saint John, we're able to extend our impact to help both paws and people in our community.
Cardboard for Kitty aligns with and supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
Gender Equality
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Responsible Consumption and Production
Climate Action
Life on Land
Partnerships for the Goals
